Flibe Energy is proud to have supported the drafting and editing of American Nuclear Society (ANS) Position Statement #47, which advocates for the responsible management of surplus nuclear material stockpiles in the United States.

Dr. Kurt Harris was instrumental in the document’s development. We are proud that he has contributed so much to the American Nuclear Society as a member and committee participant, lending technical depth to a statement that will help shape national policy.

Preserving Valuable Nuclear Resources

The position statement lays out five recommended actions to preserve valuable nuclear resources, bolster energy security, and position the United States as a leader in sustainable nuclear power. These surplus materials — too often treated as waste to be disposed of — are in many cases strategic assets for advanced reactor development, and managing them wisely is squarely in the national interest.

Flibe Energy has long advocated for preserving the nation’s valuable nuclear resources, and we are glad to see the ANS lend its institutional voice to the case.
