Executive Order 14302, Reinvigorating the Nuclear Industrial Base, directs the Secretary of Energy to seek voluntary agreements pursuant to section 708 of the Defense Production Act (DPA) to jumpstart America’s nuclear energy industrial base. These voluntary agreements allow industry consultation to develop plans of action that ensure nuclear fuel supply chain capacity — mining and milling, conversion, enrichment, deconversion, fabrication, recycling, and reprocessing — is available to support the continued, reliable operation of the nation’s reactors.

Flibe Energy was accepted as a participant in the DPA Consortium, was assigned to three committees, submitted the necessary capabilities and other statements, and worked with the group to open as many fuel-cycle “doors” as possible — including recycling and the preservation of legacy nuclear material.

Leveraging Industry Needs to Remove Old Obstacles

Our engagement provides a unique opportunity to leverage industry needs and remove the traditional obstacles that have long hampered nuclear innovation. We intend to take full advantage of the “buyer’s club” and the other innovations expected from the DPA initiative, and to be a vital contributor to the nation’s nuclear energy resurgence.
