Flibe Energy President, Kirk Sorensen, was recently featured in a video by DW Planet A on the subject of thorium energy and how integral it is to solving the climate issues we face. Although work was started decades ago by Alvin Weinberg and his team at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, it fell out of political favor and as a result, very little work has been performed on the technology since. Flibe Energy is now helping to lead a renewed charge to bring safe, affordable, and sustainable energy to the world.
The Molten Salt Reactor Experiment (MSRE) demonstrated the feasibility and advantages of using a molten salt to operate and cool a reactor, and Flibe’s work is continuing this work while integrating it with modern design and engineering processes.
