With Mr. Hanson’s background in data center infrastructure and his current position in advanced nuclear reactor development, he is uniquely positioned to speak to both groups as an insider. INL invited Mr. Hanson to speak at their Nuclear Data Center Conference in Idaho Falls on October 29th. He addressed his remarks primarily to the data center representatives and discussed the collision of terms between nuclear and data center industries, and the importance of checking assumptions. He remarked that “resilience” means the ability to continue network operations despite loss of server infrastructure; while in nuclear industry parlance, “resilience” means that the plant can quickly shut down with the intent to eventually recover.

Mr. Hanson also spoke about the unique challenges facing utilities, data centers, and nuclear plants and how thoughtful partnerships between these entities can share the risks and enable great rewards. FEI looks forward to working with utilities and data centers to realize these rewards.
